Why people call us instead of using City collection

Toronto’s curbside programme is genuinely good for what it covers, and we’ll tell you when it’s the cheaper option. It stops being the right answer when:

• The item never makes it to the curb. City collection starts at the curb. If the sofa is in a basement or a third-floor walk-up, getting it out is the actual job.
• It isn’t on the accepted list. Renovation debris, drywall, concrete, large amounts of wood and most construction material aren’t part of regular residential collection.
• There’s too much of it. A full basement clearout is not a bin-day problem. Oversized-item pickups have limits and have to be booked in advance.
• You need it gone before Thursday. Closings, showings, move-outs and new-tenant dates don’t wait for the collection calendar.

Stairs, laneways and parking

Toronto housing stock makes this trade physical. Narrow Victorian staircases, semis with no side access, downtown laneways a truck can’t turn in, and permit-parking streets where there’s nowhere legal to stop.
