Toronto specifics

What the City won’t take

Toronto’s curbside programme covers a lot, and when it’s the cheaper option we’ll say so. Here’s where it runs out.

  • Collection starts at the curb. If the couch is in a basement or a third-floor walk-up, getting it out is the entire job — and that part is on you unless you call someone.
  • Renovation debris isn’t household waste. Drywall, concrete, tile and large volumes of lumber aren’t part of regular residential collection.
  • Electronics can’t go in the garbage. E-waste is banned from landfill in Ontario and has to go through approved recycling.
  • Oversized pickups have to be booked. They’re limited in number and tied to your collection day, which rarely lines up with a closing date.
  • Condo buildings add their own layer. Service elevator bookings, dock windows, insurance certificates and clearance limits in P1.

Afterwards

Where it actually ends up

Sorted, not tipped in one hole. Here is the order we work through a load in.

  • Donation and reuse first. Furniture and household goods that are genuinely still usable go to a charity or reuse organisation where they will take them and the timing works out.
  • Then recycling. Metal, cardboard and electronics. E-waste is banned from landfill in Ontario, so monitors, towers and printers have to be routed through approved recycling — that part is not optional.
  • Then a licensed transfer station. Whatever is genuinely finished goes to a properly licensed facility, not a field somewhere.
  • We won’t quote you a diversion percentage. Plenty of companies do and almost none of them can show you the maths. What we’ll tell you is that the sorting happens.

Frequently asked questions

How much does junk removal cost in Toronto?

Pricing is by volume - how much room your load takes up in the truck - plus labour for anything heavy or awkward. You get a firm price before we load a single item, and it doesn't move once we start. Send a photo by text and we can usually quote you without coming out first.

Can you come today?

Often, yes. Same-day and next-day slots are usually available. Month-end is the busiest stretch in Toronto because of move-outs, so call early in the day if you're in that window.

Do I have to carry anything out to the curb?

No. That's the whole point of hiring us. Point at what's going and we take it from wherever it is - basement, upstairs bedroom, backyard, storage locker or loading dock.

What won't you take?

Hazardous waste, which is a legally separate stream: paint, solvents, motor oil, fuel, pesticides, propane tanks, asbestos and medical waste. The City of Toronto runs household hazardous waste drop-off depots for most of that, and we'll point you at the right one.

What happens to everything after you take it?

It gets sorted. Usable furniture and household goods go toward donation and reuse where a charity will take them and the timing works. Metal, cardboard and electronics go to recycling - electronics are banned from Ontario landfill, so those have to be handled properly. What's genuinely finished goes to a licensed transfer station.

Do you work with businesses and property managers?

Yes, and a lot of our work is commercial. Offices, retail, warehouses, condo bin rooms and tenant turnovers. We schedule around your hours and can invoice a management account rather than taking payment on the day.

Which areas do you cover?

Toronto and the GTA. We're strongest across the north end - North York, Thornhill, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Markham - but we cover downtown, Scarborough, Etobicoke and out to Mississauga, Brampton and Pickering.

Do you give quotes over the phone?

Yes. Text us a photo of the pile and we'll come back with a price. For larger cleanouts we'll usually want to see it in person, and that visit is free with no obligation.
